This is the translation of a complex, densely packed lecture delivered at the University of Michigan into a complex, densely packed little book. A small meal, but rich and filling. It argues that the cosmopolitan city, which is a matter for urbanists and architects, is a necessary antidote to the dangers of tribalism.
